The approach
Every piece starts as an offcut from local leather suppliers. The irregular scraps left over when larger hides are cut. Most of that leather gets binned. These pieces get turned into something that lasts decades.
The leather is full-grain, sourced from local supplier offcuts. A mix of vegetable and chrome tanned depending on what's available. Both are real leather, both age well, and both will outlast anything from a mall.
All pieces are fully hand saddle-stitched using thick thread and hand-punched holes, which gives a more rugged look than machine work. Hand saddle stitching is exceptionally strong. If one stitch ever fails, the rest hold. Every piece carries a lifetime stitching guarantee. If anything comes loose, send it back and it gets repaired.
Materials
The strongest cut. Keeps the natural grain intact. Sourced from local supplier offcuts, veg or chrome tanned.
Both develop character over time. Veg-tan firms and darkens. Chrome-tan stays supple and resists moisture.
Hand saddle-stitched with waxed linen or polyester thread. Thick, punched holes. If one stitch fails, the rest hold.
Buckles and rings in solid brass. Tarnishes attractively over time.
About
Offcut Leather started with a bag of scraps and a question: what can you make from the leather that industry throws away?
The stitching is still improving. The edges are getting cleaner. But the leather is the real thing, full-grain and cut from offcuts that would otherwise end up in a bin.
These are goods made to be used, not stored. Buy one. Carry it. Let it get beaten up. That's when leather gets good.
